MIRANSHAH, July 19: Ten suspected militants were killed when a US drone targeted a house in North Waziristan tribal region, administration officials say.
Last night a drone fired two missiles on a house in Dooga Madakhel area, leaving 10 people dead. Local residents also confirmed the strike.
A Pakistani media organisation reported that the militants killed belonged to the Punjabi Taliban faction. This was the third US drone strike in North Waziristan since Pakistan Army launched military operation Zarb-e-Azb to flush out local and foreign militants from the region on 14 June.
Three days ago, a drone attack left 15 suspected militants dead in Dattakhel area of North Waziristan.
More than 4,000 people including Al-Qaeda and Taliban commanders have been killed in over 400 US drone strikes in the tribal belt since 2004.
The Pakistani government has repeatedly condemned the US drone attacks as it says the strikes are violation of the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
