NOWSHERA, May 24: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minerals Department has banned mining in Cherat Coal Mines of Nowshera district as it poses threat to lives of labourers.
TNN correspondent says the department has issued notices to owners and contractors of Cherat Coal Mines to make arrangements to clear the mines of poisonous gas. It has also asked the contractors to take steps for safety of the labourers working in the mines.
Last year eight labourers died of the poisonous gas while four miners have passed away this year, the police say.
