After 16 years of delays, the obstacles to constructing the Northern Bypass in Peshawar have finally been cleared. Commissioner of Peshawar Division, Riaz Mehsud, announced that this breakthrough will significantly alleviate Peshawar's traffic woes and enhance trade efficiency, particularly boosting Pak-Afghan trade. The project, assigned as a priority by the Chief Minister, is set for December completion and will be opened to the public.

Commissioner Mehsud emphasized that the initiative’s primary benefit is resolving chronic traffic congestion. Additionally, it will allow vehicles from the Khyber district to access Peshawar and the Motorway without congesting Jamrud Road and University Road.

To expedite the completion, Commissioner Mehsud has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Khyber District to clear encroachments and transfer the necessary land to the National Highway Authority. This step is crucial for finishing the remaining segment of the National Highway Authority Road and the Northern Bypass ring road. The road is expected to be fully operational by December 31.
