MIRANSHAH, October 21: Security forces claim to have killed 30 militants during the ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan tribal region.
The Inter-Services Public Relations, which manages public relations for the Pakistani armed forces, says that the forces targeted four hideouts of militants in Dattakhel area at noon.
The ISPR also says that a key militant commander, Mr Daud Matta, has also been killed in the fresh action.
The reports could not be verified independently because media teams are not allowed to enter North Waziristan during the military operation. The only source of news from the tribal agency is ISPR nowadays.
Thousands of families have been displaced from North Waziristan as a result of the operation. Several human rights and other non-government organisations have called for repatriation of the displaced families in view of the winter season as the weather is getting cold day by day.
