PESHAWAR: Four soldiers have embraced martyrdom, while another sustained injuries in two incidents on the Pak-Afghan border.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the first incident happened in North Waziristan tribal district where unknown miscreants opened fire on a patrolling party of the security forces near Abbakhel, Spinwam late Friday night. Resultantly, Sepoy Akhtar Hussain, 23, resident of Baltistan district, embraced martyrdom. Two miscreants were also killed in exchange of fire.
In an another incident on Pak -Afghan Border in Dir, terrorists opened fire from across the border on the Pakistan Army troops busy in border fencing. The ISPR said three soldiers embraced Shahadat in the firing, while one sustained injuries.
The martyred soldiers included Lance Naik Said Amin Afridi, 28, resident of Khyber tribal district, Lance Naik Muhammad Shoaib Swati, 31, resident of Mansehra and Sepoy Kashif Ali, 22, resident of Nowshera.
Cross-border attacks have reduced significantly after Pakistan started fencing on the Pak-Afghan border. Militants were driven out of North Waziristan after operation Zarb-e-Azb and many of them fled to Afghanistan. After establishing bases in Afghanistan, the militants started attacks against Pakistani security forces from across the border. Pakistan decided to fence the entire border to stop infiltration of terrorists from Afghan side. The measure proved effective as these attacks have reduced significantly now.
However, the security forces still come under attacks in Waziristan as militants have still presence in some hideouts.
On August 25, a security personnel was martyred, while five others were injured in a landmine blast in North Waziristan. A party of the security forces was on routine patrol in Speen Wam area of Mir Ali tehsil when a landmine exploded on them.
Two security personnel were injured in a firing incident in North Waziristan tribal district on August 09. Local sources said the incident happened in Bahramand area of Dattakhel tehsil where unknown miscreants opened fire on security personnel on duty at a roadside picket.
On August 02, three soldiers were martyred and another was injured in two separate incidents of firing in North Waziristan. The first incident of firing happened in Razmak tehsil, while the second incident happened in Dattakhel tehsil.
