5 killed, 18 injured in rain related incidents in KP
PDMA distributed relief items among flood affected people of District Buner.

PESHAWAR: At least five persons were killed while 18 others injured in rain-related incidents in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), says Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Friday.

The PDMA added that heavy rains have caused flash floods in mountainous areas of Buner, Shangla, Mansehra, Torghar, Kurram, Abbottabad and Upper Dir where besides human loss, at least 27 cattle were also lost or dead during the current spell of rains.

The flash flood in Chagarzi area of district Buner washed away three houses. Those who were injured were identified as Gul Shah Khan, Liaqat Khan and Surma Khan. In Chagarzai, a mosque was also badly damaged as a result of water inundation.

In Kurram, house of Syed Hussain Jan resident of village Noorki collapsed as a result of which 17 persons were injured. Besides this, four cows also perished due to rains. Similarly, a house of Gul Raza damaged while boundary wall of another house belongs to Syed Mujahid Hussain collapsed as a result of heavy rains.

In Mansehra, Naran Jalkand road, a car come under landslide killing two persons identified as Abid Javed and Mrs Shamim Akhtar. In District Shangla a stone fell on a girl named Hamida daughter of Qadar Gul. She was rushed to hospital however she succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. She was 14-years-old. In a separate incident in Tehsil Hasanzai, 17 cattle were killed when shed collapsed over their heads.

In another incident in Mansehra, A house Abdul Hakeem son of Bazir Khan, resident of Darinshy washed away by floodwater with household items and caused loss of six cattle.

Owing to heavy downpour, Naran road was blocked for vehicular traffic and work is underway to restore traffic for the area. The PDMA said that its staff has provided emergency kits and food to the affected families while medicine and doctors teams have also been sent to cope with any emergency situation.
