
MINGORA, July 4: The administration of Swat University as reimbursed fees to more than 500 students under the Prime Minister Fee Reimbursement Scheme.
The Vice Chancellor, Dr Jehanzeb Khan, distributed cheques worth 10 million rupees to 549 students at a ceremony on campus.
Students, who were returned their fees, appreciated the move.
The federal government has approved budget of 1.20 billion rupees for the scheme, under which fees of students from underdeveloped areas, enrolled for master’s, M.Phil, and Ph.D programmes, would be reimbursed.
A student told TNN, “It’s a very positive step as many students cannot complete their education due to financial problems. Now they will be able to continue their education. Such measures will help promote education in our country.”
The areas identified for the scheme include Kohistan, DI Khan, Malakand and the entire FATA region.
