PESHAWAR, April 25: About 300 flourmills in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have closed after wheat supply from Punjab province was stopped.

 

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is facing shortage of wheat following suspension of the commodity’s supply.

 

The chairman of All Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Flourmills Association, Anees Ashraf, says about 300 flourmills had closed for the time being due to suspension of wheat supply and that it has rendered many workers jobless.

 

The Provincial Minister of Food, Qalandar Lodhi, said they would purchase 450,000 tons wheat from local farmers to fulfill the needs of the mills and to prevent shortage of flour in the province.
