Unknown armed assailants opened fire on a routine police patrol in Yakka Ghund, Lower Mohmand subdivision, killing two police personnel, including an additional SHO, and critically injuring another.

According to police, the attack took place in Machni Aqrab Dag, within the jurisdiction of Yakka Ghund police station, where the attackers ambushed a police vehicle and opened indiscriminate fire.

As a result, Additional SHO Zaitullah and Head Constable Noor Zeb were martyred on the spot, while the police vehicle's driver, Constable Zahir, sustained critical injuries.

The bodies of the martyred personnel and the injured constable were shifted to the Rural Health Centre (RHC) Yakka Ghund. After receiving initial medical treatment, the injured constable was referred to Peshawar for further care.

Following the incident, District Police Officer (DPO) Raza Muhammad and DSP Dilfaraz reached the scene along with a heavy police contingent. Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search and combing operation.

Police officials said the attackers managed to flee the scene. Efforts to trace and arrest them are underway, while an investigation into the incident has also been launched.
