
PESHAWAR, June 28: A meeting of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee (moon sighting committee) was held in Karachi Saturday evening to decide the advent of the holy month of Ramazan.
Muslims across the world fast for one complete month of Ramazan and celebrate the festivity of Eid at the end of the month.
The committee, led by Chairman Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Mufti Munibur Rehman, met in Karachi after Asar (afternoon) prayer.
The members of zonal committees of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also met Saturday evening for the sighting of moon while the Peshawar committee was led by the Khateeb (chief prayer leader) of Mahabat Khan Masjid, Mufti Shahabuddin.
Provincial Minister of Religious Affairs Haji Habibur Rehman said they requested the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to start Ramadan on the same day all over the country and that it must be patient to respect the views of Zonal committees.
Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries have announced to start fasting of the month of Ramadan from Sunday.
