PESHAWAR, May 4: Amir Khan, a British Pakistani boxer, has won the Welterweight Boxing Championship.
Mr Khan beat Luis Collazo of the US by 117 points against 106 points of the latter in Las Vegas, US.
Mr Khan was too fast and too disciplined for Mr Collazo, flooring him in the fourth round and twice in the 10th.
Mr Collazo, for most of the fight whinged to the referee, Vic Drakuvich, and his corner, frustrated by Khan’s high guard and his grabbing in the clinches. In the 11th round, he seemed all but resigned to defeat, although he kept trundling forward.
