PESHAWAR, June 1: Another child, hailing from Charsadda district, has died in the anti-measles immunisation campaign in the provincial capital Peshawar.
Hospital sources say Mr Faheem immunised his 5-year old son Faizan, after which he suffered high fever. The child was taken to the Khyber Teaching Hospital where he passed away.
Scores of children in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa fainted during the 12-day immunisation drive against measles. The provincial government has launched investigation to find out what causes the children to faint after immunisation, but the matter is still a mystery.
After polio, the measles campaign has also become controversial in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa apparently due to ill-planned and poor execution of the immunisation.
