Health authorities have confirmed another polio case from North Waziristan district in a 13 months old child.
Emergency Operations Centers said that the case has been detected from Mir Ali area of the district. On the other hand, a health ministry spokesperson said that this was fourth case to be reported from the North Waziristan during the current year. He also appealed their children to be vaccinated against the virus.
The spokesperson said that polio eradication was first priority of the government and it was taking emergency steps for this purpose.
Besides, he asked the media, religious scholars and civil society to play their due role in spreading awareness regarding the illness.
He said that two polio drops will protect the children from being crippled for rest of their lives.
The official said that polio campaign was going on in the country since May 23. In addition to this, he added that war on polio could not be won without the help of parents.
Earlier this month, North Waziristan additional health officer had confirmed fake vaccination marking in the area, where polio cases are being reported.
ADHO Dr Shams had told TNN that hundreds of families were silent refusal cases and themselves marking their children hands as vaccinated.
Besides, he said that locals were also threatening polio teams to not disclose the fake marking.
