BANNU, August 25: Awami National Party (ANP) activists staged rally in memory of the Speena Tangi martyrs in Domail area of Bannu district.

On 25 August, 1931, the British Indian Army and Frontier Constabulary shot dead 80 civilians in Bannu; the incident is also known as Hathikhel massacre.

ANP leader Haji Mr Baaz Muhammad Khan told TNN that they were observing the day to remember Pashtun elders who had died in the firing and also to raise awareness among people about politics and non-violence.

At the end of the rally, the demonstrators prayed for the victims of the 1931 incident and peace in the area.
