PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party (ANP) on Thursday submitted adjournment motion in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly secretariat seeking the release of Pakhtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) activists.
The resolution is asking for debate on the floor of assembly on Khar Kamar incident in North Waziristan asking the government to explain the situation that led to the tragedy and what efforts are being taken to calm down the situation and provide relief to the affected people.
The motion is submitted by Awami National Party’s Parliamentary leader in KP assembly Sardar Hussain Babak wherein he stated that imposition of section 144 in North and South Waziritsan has further aggravated the problems of people in the form of food shortage in both the tribal districts.
“The blockade of roads have further added to the miseries of people in the Holy month of Ramzan,” stated the resolution. The ANP leader also demanded of the federal government to release the detained people arrested after the incident especially the members national Assembly, Mohsin Dawar and Ali Wazir.
Sardar Babak in his resolution said that 13 people have lost their lives in the tragedy and scores are injured, therefore, the situation should not be led to any further escalation and efforts should be made to pacify the protestors.
On May 26, the activists clashed with security personnel at Khar Qamar area of Tehsil Datta Khel in North Waziristan tribal district, as a result, a number of people lost their lives while dozens were injured. The security forces said that their check post was attacked which they responded. The two MNAs, Ali Wazir and Mohsin Dawar, who were leading the protesters, have been arrested.
The Awami National Party leadership has already strongly condemned the tragedy. After the Eid, they’ve called a gathering of Pakhtun leadership to discuss the situation created after the North Waziristan tragedy.
