Forces Seize Cache Of Arms, Ammunition In Orakzai Distt

ORAKZAI: The security forces have seized a cache of arms and ammunition dumped underground during a raid at a compound at Chappar Ali Khel area of Upper Orakzai district, officials said.

The security official informed that the seized weapons and ammunition included heavy machine guns, mortar shells, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and other weapons of different bores.

The security officials believe that the weapons would have been used by terrorists in anti-state activities in the district. They added all efforts will be made to arrest the culprits.  However, the officials informed that, so far, no arrests have been made; however, they have registered the case and started the search for the arrest of the culprits.

It was further added that the forces are raiding the suspected hideouts for the arrest of the accused.

Police foil weapons smuggling bid

HANGU: The Hangu police on Friday foiled a weapon smuggling bid and arrested the accused here on Naryab road, near Maroofi Banda area of the district. The police officials informed that Station house officer (SHO) received the information of ammunition bid from Hangu district.

After which, police set up check post on Naryab road and started checking suspected vehicles. During this time, they signalled three-wheelers and through search, police recovered 1760 bullets of the different calibre. Police said that driver of the vehicle has been arrested, who was identified as Muhammad Sharif, a resident of Karbogha Sharif has been arrested.

The police said that on the information provided by the accused, police have conducted a raid on weapons dealer Gul Sherin in Zargari area and arrested him along with a 30 bore pistol.

The police further informed that another person, Muhammad Farid was also arrested during routine patrolling and recover Kalashnikov and ammunition from his position. Police added that cases have been registered and further investigation is underway.
