CHITRAL, May 10: The Pakistan Army has inaugurated a scheme to construct a vocational training centre in Chitral district at a cost of 70 million rupees.
While inaugurating the scheme, Major General Akhtar Rao said local women would be provided training of different vocational skills and initially 150 women would get admission in the centre.
He said the army had set up such centres in Swat, Waziristan, Jandola and Mohmand Agency.
The military official said that right now they would construct two vocational centres, one in Booni and the other in Chitral city, and later the number of the centres would be increased to eight in the district.
Major General Akhtar Rao said: “We have also constructed a technical college in Bajaur Agency where diploma courses and certificates in electrical, civil, mechanical and mining disciplines are being offered, while the college also has quota for students from Chitral.”
He said the college also has a hostel that can accommodate 80 students.
