In a series of significant law enforcement updates, Nowshera police have announced the arrest of the killers responsible for the murder of senior journalist Hassan Zeb.

District Police Officer Azhar Khan revealed in a press conference that the primary suspects, Ashfaq and Zohaib, were captured within ten days of the crime. The motive behind the murder was a financial dispute involving 3.7 million rupees.

The suspects confessed that Zeb was killed due to personal grievances related to delayed payments for installments on mobile phones, motorcycles, and land transactions.

Zeb, 40, was tragically gunned down by unidentified assailants on the evening of July 14. A general reporter for Daily Aaj and an active member of the Khyber Union of Journalists and Peshawar Press Club, Zeb was known for his reporting on health and urban issues. His murder has sparked concern among journalists and human rights organizations alike.

These arrests come amidst a troubling trend of violence against journalists in Pakistan, with Reporters Without Borders noting the murder of five journalists and the arrest of one this year alone.
