MINGORA, July 15: In the present age of computer and information technology, an artist of Swat district has 6,000 art paintings in his personal collection, which shows that art is still alive in Pashtun society and it is an important aspect of their culture.
However, Mr Shamsu Iqbal Shams complains that the younger generation is more inclined to computers and internet and that the art was dying in our society.
Mr Shams told TNN that he started painting at the age of five and that now he teaches students about the subject.
He added that youngsters must learn Islamic calligraphy. “Nowadays our youngsters are interested in computers and they don’t know about calligraphy,” he added.
He also said that in the month of Ramazan, he concentrated on Islamic calligraphy and that he wanted to promote this art as much as he could.
