PESHAWAR, November 27: Phillip Joel Hughes, an Australian test and one-day international cricketer, has died after surviving a severe injury for two days.

The 25-year-old player was struck on the top of the neck by a ball from MR Sean Abbott during a domestic match in Sydney.

The player received severe trauma injury and was shifted to St Vincent’s Hospital, where he went into coma and died today after being hospitalised for two days.

Sudden demise of the young cricketer has stunned the cricket community who have extended deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones.

Due to the tragic incident, the third test match between Pakistan and New Zealand that was to be played today has been postponed. Tomorrow would be considered as the second day of the test and the series will end one day later than the scheduled date.
