PESHAWAR, November 17: The health department of Khyber Agency has set up free medical camps for the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of Bara who have moved to settled areas now.

Talking to TNN, Dr Ayub, in-charge of free medical camp at Pishtakhara, said that around 500 patients suffering from various diseases would be examined and provided with free medical facilities on a daily basis.

Almost 6000 patients were given free medication and also tested for malaria for free. In addition, children were given anti-polio vaccination and ambulances also served the patients during last two weeks.

Dr Ayub added that apart from Pishtakhara, medical camps were set up in the areas of Jamrud, Lala Kandao, Regzai Chanjena, Jalozai and phase #6 of Hayatabad as well.

“The officials also carry out inspections and visit the medical camps. And we try our level best not to leave any single patient without treatment and medication,” he added.

On the other hand, one of the displaced persons, Mr Fareed Khan, appreciated the efforts of health department and said: “We are given prescription chit and medicines that are available here are provided to us, otherwise they give us medicines from a medical store located outside the premises.”
