LAKKI MARWAT, May 20: Authorities have demolished a number of shops and houses during a campaign against encroachments in Lakki Marwat district.
TNN correspondent says the Municipal Committee officials carried out the action on the Old Kachehry Road where they also demolished an Eidgah and a school, in addition to other structures.
Eidgah is a mosque used specifically for prayers on religious festival of Eid.
Mr Asmatullah, in-charge of the Municipal Committee in the district, says that they issued notices to the people before launching the operation.
However, some said they had not received the notices. One of the affected people told TNN, “We had not been issued notice and hence were confused what to do when they were demolishing our house.”
Another resident said, “We demand compensation. They had mentioned demolishing area up to 9 feet but they affected more area during the action.”
