Bilawal asks NA speaker to issue Ali Wazir production order

PESHAWAR: Chairman of Pakistan People Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has asked the speaker national assembly to issue production order for Member National Assembly (MNA) Ali Wazir, so that he can participate in the assembly session called on Friday.

While addressing a press conference at the office of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Islamabad, Bilawal said that a setting MNA cannot be arrested without the approval of National Assembly speaker. Bilawal stressed that Wazir should participate in the assembly proceedings to inform the house about the North Waziristan tragedy.

The PPP chairperson, who is also chairman of human rights committee of the national assembly of Pakistan, also questioned why the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mehmood Khan is silent on the issue, why the Prime minister is not talking to the nation on the North Waziristan incident? He expressed that the issue should not be taken silently but efforts should be made to address the grievances of the tribal people who have suffered a lot due to wars in their region.

Ali Wazir has been remanded into Counter Terrorism Police Department (CTD) custody for eight days by an ATC court in Bannu. He was arrested by the security forces allegedly for attacking a security check post in Khar Qamar area of Tehsil Data Khel in North Waziristan.

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has condemned the North Waziristan incident and Ali Wazir’s arrest. The HRCP asked the government to immediately release the lawmaker and other ‘rights activists’. The HRCP also demanded a parliamentary commission to probe the incident and establish the truth.
