JAMRUD, 13 October: A book fair has been organised for the first time at the Government Degree College for Women in Jamrud tehsil, Khyber Agency.
TNN correspondent says more than 20,000 books have been displayed at the book fair, organised by the National Book Foundation.
Regional Director of the Foundation, Mr Murad Ali, said female students could buy books on half their prices. He added that the FATA Secretariat had provided them a vehicle to hold such book fairs in the tribal areas.
“We have got a mini-Mazda from the FATA Secretariat. The vehicle, laden with books, will visit the nook and corner of the tribal region to promote book reading,” he added.
He said they would also visit Mohmand, Bajaur and Bara and Landikotal areas soon.
“If we don’t have a book that is demanded by someone in an area, we will take note of it and will arrange it in the second visit to that area,” Mr Ali said.
