SWAT: Swat Police has arrested the brother of local singer Sana who was allegedly killed by him on August 30.

Police said the accused, Qasim was arrested from Faisalabad. Police has also presented the accused before the media. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) City Zahir Shah said the accused is being interrogated.

Singer Sana was killed allegedly by her brother in Banr area of Swat on August 30. Qasim had allegedly hit his sister with a sharp-edged weapon several times due to which she died on the spot. The accused fled the scene after killing his sister. He has been arrested from Faisalabad district of Punjab.

Several female singers and actresses have been killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recently, most of them in the name of honour. On May 07, a local singer Gul Meena was shot dead allegedly by her husband in Banr area of Swat.

On February 22, a Pashto actress was killed in Mardan.

Awakening, an institution working against violence against women and early marriages in Swat, said six women have been killed in Swat during the last one month. It also expressed concern over no arrest of most of the culprits involved in these murders.

Another doctor kidnapped from South Waziristan

After the kidnapping of Dr Noor Hanan from Wana tehsil of South Waziristan, now another doctor has been abducted from Tiarza tehsil.

The local administration said unknown miscreants kidnapped Dr Abid Rehman on Monday and shifted him to unknown location. It said Dr Abid Rehman was working with a non-governmental organisation (NGO). The administration said investigation into the incident of kidnapping is underway.

The incident happened five days after kidnapping of Dr Noor Hanan from the government TB Hospital in Wana. Unknown miscreants wearing masks entered the office of Dr Noor Hanan at the TB Hospital in Wana and forcibly took him with them while locking the other staff in a room.

The Wana Doctors Association on Monday held protest demonstration against kidnapping of Dr Noor Hanan. During the protest, all the departments of government hospitals, except emergency department, remained closed. The doctors said they will continue protest till the safe recovery of Dr Noor Hanan.
