The federal government has started considering a proposal to increase the salaries of government employees by 10 to 15 percent in the budget for the fiscal year 2026–27.

According to sources, an informal meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif discussed the new budget, development projects, taxes, salaries, and pensions.

During the meeting, the Finance Minister briefed participants on the key points of the budget and presented a proposal to increase government employees' salaries by 10 to 15 percent, taking inflation into account.

However, the Prime Minister directed the relevant authorities to assess the available financial resources and determine how much relief can realistically be provided to employees.

Sources say that the final decision on the salary increase will be made by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif after consultations with coalition partners.
