In Bannu district, unidentified armed men allegedly kidnapped a Central Jail Police warden on Sunday, further escalating the security situation in the area. Police have launched a search operation for the recovery of the abducted official.

According to sources, Central Jail Police warden Safeer Khan was returning home after completing his duty when unidentified armed men intercepted him near Peeran Daud Shah within the jurisdiction of Cantt Police Station and abducted him before fleeing the scene.

Upon receiving information about the incident, police and security agencies immediately reached the area, cordoned off nearby locations and established checkpoints at various points. A search operation is also underway to trace the abducted officer.

Meanwhile, it is worth mentioning that a suicide attack was carried out on a police checkpoint in the Fateh Khel area of Bannu on the night between Saturday and Sunday, where an explosives-laden vehicle was allegedly rammed into the checkpoint.

As a result of the blast, 15 security personnel were martyred while three others sustained injuries.
