BANNU, August 6: Cholera has affected people, particularly children and women, of the displaced families from North Waziristan currently staying in Bannu and its adjacent areas.
Almost 90 percent of patients admitted to local hospital include women and children. Most of the affected children are below the age of five years.
A pediatrician, Dr Shabraz Wazir, said the displaced families were affected more because of unhygienic conditions and lack of facilities that are needed by patients.
“Situation is critical nowadays because sweating from human body due to hot weather causes dehydration, while the cholera patients suffer more because of vomiting and loose motion,” he added.
