clash islamabad

PESHAWAR, September 1: Clashes between the police, Frontier Constabulary personnel and activists of the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehreek continue in the federal capital Islamabad.

The protesters started pelting stones using slingshots on the law enforcers at morning. In retaliation, the security personnel fired tear gas shells and rubber bullets on the protesters.

The violent demonstrators also tried to enter the Pakistan Secretariat and Punjab House, but the police stopped them from entering the premises.

According to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) authorities, three demonstrators have died so far and about 400 injured. Several policemen have also been injured during the protests.

Following a meeting of the army’s corps commanders last night, the Inter-Services Public Relations has issued a statement asking the government to avoid using force and to resolve the issues with PTI chief Mr Imran Khan and PAT head Dr Tahirul Qadri through dialogue.

The Pakistan Bar Council has also boycotted courts in protest against use of force against protesters in Islamabad.
