The alleged negligence and rising complaints against the Ababeel Force, established to combat street crimes in Peshawar, have become a significant issue for the police department. In response, top police officials have decided to restructure the force.

According to CCPO Peshawar Qasim Ali Khan, the city’s patrolling force will now operate under sub-inspectors at local police stations, and the number of personnel from other districts will be reduced within the force.

The CCPO stated that currently, 800 personnel of the Ababeel Force are on duty in Peshawar. Of these, one-third will be transferred to different police stations, and eventually, all personnel will be integrated into the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police.

Sources have claimed that some Ababeel Force personnel from other districts are involved in various crimes, including alleged bribery. This has led to numerous complaints, prompting police authorities to initiate these changes.

It is worth noting that earlier, four Ababeel Force personnel were suspended for kidnapping a citizen.

The Ababeel Force was established in 2021, with police personnel appointed from eighteen districts across the province. The squad members are equipped with modern bikes and weapons to effectively prevent street crimes in the city.
