Crackdown on Illegal Crushing Plants in Bannu: A Move to Protect Environment and Public Health

The officials assured that stringent action would be taken against other illegal crushing plants to protect the area from these harmful effects and ensure the rule of law.

BANNU: In line with the public agenda of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a crackdown against illegal crushing plants in the Bannu district is ongoing. 

Acting on the orders of Deputy Commissioner Abdul Hameed, Assistant Director of Consumer Rights Protection, Ijaz Khan, along with AAC Revenue Riaz Ahmed, led an operation sealing 14 illegal crushing plants. These plants were found to be causing environmental pollution and failing to comply with the relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

On this occasion, Ijaz Khan stated that actions against illegal crushing plants will continue. "The primary aim of this operation is to eliminate illegal activities in the area and ensure environmental protection," he said.

He further elaborated that the illegal activities of these crushing plants were not only contributing to environmental pollution but also exacerbating health issues among the local population, such as respiratory diseases and dust-related problems. "This action is a significant and timely step under the government’s policy to curb illegal activities. It will not only safeguard public interest but also help mitigate environmental pollution issues to some extent," he added.
