Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested a journalist from Bara area of Khyber district on charges of terrorism.
On the other hand, Khyber district journalist condemned the arrest of the Khadim Khan Afridi, who was detained by the CTD personnel on Friday.
Bara Press Club held an emergency meeting with its president Kamran Khan Afridi in the chair, which condemned the arrest of the journalist.
The meeting was informed that Mr Afridi had left the press club for his home in the evening. They said that police personnel intercepted his vehicle and taken into custody.
The meeting condemned the arrested and rejected the CTD stance regarding the journalist arrest. They said that the journalist had nothing to do with the banned outfit Lashkar-e-Islam and a student during the reign of militant outfit in Khyber district.
Khadim Khan Afridi has been elected Bara Press Club president twice and has been in the field for past one decade.
On the other hand, CTD has claimed to arrest the journalist from Sarband area of Peshawar while he was arrested from Bara Bazaar and there were more than 10 witnesses to his detention.
The journalists demanded his immediate release and apology from the CTD for arresting the reporter. They said that otherwise they will stage protest against CTD.
