A major development has emerged in the cases related to the Darul Uloom Haqqania bombing and the alleged planning of a suicide attack on Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
In this regard, Counter Terrorism Department conducted intelligence-based operations in the districts of Karak and Khyber District, during which 21 militants were killed and 9 others arrested, including Afghan nationals.
According to the Central Police Office, the recent operations led to the identification of terror-linked financial networks, funding sources, safe hideouts, and methods used to select targets for attacks.
Preliminary investigations have also revealed evidence suggesting that terrorist elements were receiving financial support through Cryptocurrency transactions.

The CPO stated that the ongoing investigation has traced covert sleeper cells linked to banned outfits as well as networks of foreign militants. However, cross-border connections and the difficult geographical terrain remain major obstacles in the investigation process.
It was further stated that no group has yet claimed responsibility for major incidents, including the Police Lines suicide bombing and the Darul Uloom Haqqania bombing, while claims made by various banned organizations were found to be baseless and misleading.
