In a major counterterrorism breakthrough, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and other security forces conducted a successful joint operation in Teri Mangal area of Kurram district, killing two most wanted terrorists accused of murdering five schoolteachers in 2023.
According to security sources, both slain militants carried a bounty of Rs 5 million each on their heads. The law enforcement agencies had been hunting them for a long time due to their involvement in the brutal killing of five schoolteachers last year.
During the operation, a local civilian sustained a gunshot wound to his foot and was shifted to a nearby medical center for treatment.

Sources added that five terrorists were wanted in connection with this case. Two have been eliminated in the operation, while a search is underway to locate and apprehend the remaining three.
Meanwhile, in a separate intelligence-based operation in the Shamshto Armar area on the outskirts of Peshawar, the CTD neutralized a suicide bomber and his facilitator.
According to a CTD spokesperson, the suicide attacker was an Afghan national affiliated with the banned outfit Fitna Al-Khawarij. A suicide vest, submachine gun, and other weapons were recovered from the site.
It is worth noting that in July 2024, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had placed bounties on five key suspects, including Hafeez-ur-Rehman and Wajid Gul.
