Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi formally launched the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Digital Transformation Policy and Roadmap 2030.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, the Chief Minister said the Digital Transformation Policy and Roadmap 2030 is among Pakistan's most comprehensive digital policies. He said the roadmap comprises five strategic pillars, nine objectives, 32 thematic domains and 915 strategic interventions.

He appreciated the efforts of the KP IT Board in translating former prime minister Imran Khan's vision of a "Digital Khyber Pakhtunkhwa" into reality.

The Chief Minister said paperless governance and digital reforms would significantly improve transparency, accountability and the performance of government institutions. He said reducing human intervention in official affairs would further enhance transparency.

He said government services would be gradually shifted online and made citizen-centric, adding that digitization would spare people in remote areas from making unnecessary visits to government offices.

Sohail Afridi said the promotion of artificial intelligence, digital skills and modern technology would create new employment and business opportunities for young people. He added that digitization would help save financial resources, reduce paper consumption and contribute to environmental protection.

He said the Digital Roadmap would serve as a milestone in promoting a modern, environmentally friendly and sustainable digital economy.

The Chief Minister said the provincial government collected Rs150 billion in revenue during the last fiscal year against a target of Rs129 billion without imposing any new taxes. He said the revenue target for the current fiscal year has been set at Rs180 billion, expressing hope that collections would reach Rs200 billion.

He said the process of digital reforms would be accelerated further to improve governance and facilitate the public.

During the briefing, officials said a comprehensive implementation framework, including targets and timelines, has been prepared for Digital KP 2030. They said more than 100,000 young people would be provided training in artificial intelligence and digital skills alongside the digitization of government services and financial transactions. Officials also said work would be undertaken on green ICT procurement, reducing the carbon footprint and establishing a carbon credit registry.
