BUNER, September 3: The district administration of Buner has decided to ban polythene bags and authorities have distributed pamphlets to discourage its use in various areas of the district.
The Assistant Commissioner of Mandarh tehsil in Buner, Mr Arshad Ali, said that plastic shopping bags pollute the environment. He said notices would be distributed among the traders in this respect.
The traders involved in the business have appreciated the step of the government and demanded three-month deadline to sell out their stocks.
Local residents have also decided not to use plastic bags. “It is a very good decision and in favour of public health but now it must be implemented practically as soon as possible. The polythene bags must be replaced with paper bags or cloth bags and the commodity must be supplied to the market forthwith,” said an area resident.
