The groundbreaking ceremony of the Darul Aman was laid on 21 October 2016 by Ex-District Nazim Himayatullah Mayar. It was initially estimated that it will be completed within one year at a cost of Rs40 million.

Naib Nazim Asad Ali said that its construction became possible due to the efforts of former Nazim Hemayatullah of Awami National Party (ANP). He added the Darul Aman will provide shelter to women in need.

Before this, there was no official arrangement in Mardan to provide shelter to women who left their houses due to domestic violence or some other circumstances. Social activists have appreciated the establishment of Darul Aman as a good step. The activists expressed the hope that affected by violence will be able to find a safe shelter and they would have access to all facilities of life. The activists also urged the government to provide the Darul Aman adequate security and protection.
