SWABI: In an unfortunate development, it has been revealed that a newly-wed bride in Swabi, Zoha, was in fact killed by her mother-in-law, brother-in-law and husband’s uncle.

On June 29, father of Zoha filed a report with Swabi Police in which he alleged that his 18-year-old daughter has been killed by her in-laws by poisoning her. Police said an investigation team was formed to probe the matter and the body was also sent for post mortem.

Police said the body of the victim apparently did not have torture marks. However, the claim of the victim’s father was verified through the post mortem report after which the accused Mohsinur Rehman and Abdur Rahim were arrested, while another accused, wife of Shamsur Rehman, got bail from the court due to which she has not been arrested.

Police said the case has been investigated from various angles and all facts about the incident will be unveiled soon.

Meanwhile, the father of the victim girl and area people have called upon the concerned authorities to award strict punishment to the alleged killers. Zoha’s father said while talking to TNN that he is satisfied with the police probe and police is fully cooperating with him. He said police officers have visited his residence and assured him that he will get justice. He said police officers also gave their contact numbers and have asked him to contact them directly anytime in case of any difficulty or problem. The deceased girl’s father said he is not accusing everyone for his daughter’s murder, but he wants death for the three accused who killed her innocent daughter. He said he will only be satisfied fully when the murderers at hanged.

The marriage ceremony of Zoha was held five months ago in Gandaf area of Swabi and her husband is in the United States for job. The girl was allegedly subjected to mistreatment by her in-laws since her marriage and then she was found dead. No reason was attributed to her death by her in-laws. The real reason of the murder of the 18-month-old bride will be known after completion of probe.
