PESHAWAR: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued notification of the successful candidates in the provincial assembly elections in tribal districts.

According to the ECP notification, independent candidates won six seats, PTI candidates won five seats, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) candidates were successful on two seats and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Awami National Party (ANP) got one seat each.

The result of PK-115 of erstwhile frontier regions (FRs) has been withheld by the returning officer and he has ordered re-polling on some polling stations. According to unofficial results, the JUI-F candidate won that seat and the PTI candidate was runner-up with very few votes and it was expected that the PTI candidate would challenge the result. The PK-115 election also witnessed disruption due to boycott of the anti-merger people’s protest and a large number of people were reportedly barred forcibly from casting their votes in the constituency.

The ECP notification shows that the PTI candidate Anwar Zeb Khan won PK-100 Bajaur-I seat, PTI’s Aimal Khan secured victory on PK-101 Bajaur and on PK-102 Bajaur-III the JI candidate Sirajuddin was declared winner.

The ANP candidate Nisar Ahmed won PK-103 Mohmand-I seat and independent candidate Malik Abbasur Rehman won PK-104 Mohmand-II seat.

On PK-105 Khyber-I, independent candidate Shafiq Afridi won the election, Bilawal Afridi, another independent candidate, won PK-106 Khyber-II and independent candidate Muhammad Shafiq won PK-107 Khyber-III seat.

The JUI-F candidate Muhammad Riaz was declared successful on PK-108 Kurram-I seat, on PK-109 Kurram-II, PTI’s Iqbal Syed Mian won the election and on PK-110 Orakzai, independent candidate Syed Ghazi Ghazan Jamal was declared successful.

The PTI’s Muhammad Iqbal Khan won PK-111 North Waziristan seat and independent candidate Mir Kalam Khan secured victory on PK-112 seat. On PK-113 South Waziristan, JUI-F candidate Maulana Assamuddin won the election and on PK-114 the PTI’s Naseerullah Khan won the election.

The Election Commission has asked the independent candidates to join any of the political party till August 3 and inform the electoral body in this regard.

Shafiq Afridi, who won from Khyber district, has already joined the PTI. He contested the elections as independent candidate after bending denied a PTI ticket and won the election.
