PESHAWAR, July 26: A social welfare organisation, Al-Khidmat Foundation, has distributed food items as Eid Package among 500 displaced families of North Waziristan in Peshawar.

Those who received Eid Package thanked the organisation but lamented being far away from their homes on the festivity of Eidul Fitr this year.

Eidul Fitr is a festivity, which the Muslims celebrate after a month of fasting, Ramazan.

According to the Foundation, the Eid Package includes flour, pulses, sugar, ghee and other basic commodities.

“We are thankful to this organisation as they have given us necessary items. We cannot afford to buy such things nowadays. It would have been great, had we been allowed to spend Eid at our own homes,” said one of the aid recipients.

While distributing Eid Package among the IDPs, the chief guest and Jamaat-e-Islami chief Mr Sirajul Haq also announced to give gifts to 10,000 IDPs, in addition to the Eid Package.

Al-Khidmat Foundation is social welfare wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, which is a coalition partner in the provincial government.
