MINGORA, July 1: The administration of Swat district has started eight-day awareness campaign to contain dengue fever in 11 union councils of the district.

People are being informed about the mosquito larvae and ways to eliminate it.

A member of the Swat Malaria Control Programme, Mr Sher Muhammad Khan, said they had started the drive after four dengue cases were confirmed in the area.

Officials of the Health Department and 200 volunteers are participating in the door-to-door campaign.

“This campaign will continue for eight days, in which the garbage and dirty from various sites would be disposed of. We have sent 20 to 25 field workers to various areas to eliminate larvae.”

The Swat Deputy Commissioner, Mr Mehmood Aslam, said those who would not cooperate with the administration in this drive, would be arrested.
