In Bannu, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted a joint intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the area of Thana Miryan on the basis of confidential information, targeting terrorists affiliated with the Fitna al-Khawarij group.
During the operation, there was an intense exchange of fire between the police and the terrorists, in which 8 terrorists were killed while several others were reported injured.
During the same action, a 10-kilogram improvised explosive device (IED) was also recovered near Azad Mandi on Miranshah Road, which was successfully defused in time through prompt action.
According to police, the IED was allegedly planted to target today’s road opening duty.

Police said the operation was launched early in the morning and modern drone surveillance and other technology were used. The area was cordoned off and a search operation was completed.
The operation was supervised by the SP Rural Bannu, while two SDPOs and the SP CTD were also present on the spot.
Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, said that the police will continue operations against terrorism on all fronts and will thwart the designs of anti-peace elements.
