The government has announced an increase of 20 paisas per unit in electricity tariffs across the country.
According to a notification issued by NEPRA, the hike has been implemented under the first-quarter adjustment for the current fiscal year. This increase will affect electricity consumers nationwide, including Karachi, imposing an additional financial burden of Rs. 1.187 billion.

The quarterly adjustment will be applied for December 2024. However, the increase will not affect lifeline and prepaid electricity consumers. Similarly, it will not apply to additional electricity usage under the winter package.
NEPRA noted that the collection for the previous fiscal year’s last-quarter adjustment, amounting to Rs. 1.74 per unit, concluded in November.
