PESHAWAR, November 8: The FATA Secretariat held a training workshop for farmers of Khyber Agency about how to grow off-season vegetables.
About 50 farmers from Jamrud tehsil attended the workshop at the University of Peshawar campus on 7 November.
Mr Umar Zaman Khattak of the Post-Crisis Needs Assessment (PCNA) of the FATA Secretariat told TNN that their workshop was just an awareness event. He said they wanted to train the farmers on how to grow off-season vegetables like tomatoes, gourd, bitter gourd, cucumber and capsicum during November to March period.
Those who attended the event lauded the training.
“The off-season vegetables benefit the farmers because they offer more profits in the market. We have also been given seeds, we have stored them and will cultivate them after about 20 days. The trainers told them to focus more on growing vegetables,” stated a farmer at the workshop.
