A female health worker deployed on duty during the anti-polio campaign came under fire in the limits of Mandani Police Station in Charsadda. However, the polio team and police personnel deployed for security remained safe.

Police took immediate action and arrested the alleged shooter, Shahzad, son of Naik Muhammad, a resident of Jabgai, Malakand, from the scene.

According to police, the suspect targeted the female health worker over a dispute arising from her refusal to marry him. During the firing, the woman fell onto the road out of fear and suffered minor scratches.

Police have registered a case against the suspect, while further investigation is underway.
