A decades-old enmity in the Rahmani Khel area of Paharpur tehsil, Dera Ismail Khan, turned violent in the early hours of Tuesdsy when rival groups exchanged heavy gunfire, leaving three men dead.
According to police, the clash erupted around 3 a.m. within the jurisdiction of Paniala police station, as longstanding tensions boiled over into a bloody confrontation.
The deceased, identified as Niamatullah, Muhammad Salim and Zahid, were shot during the exchange and their bodies were moved to the district hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Senior officers said that upon receiving news of the incident, a large contingent of police cordoned off the area and beefed up security to prevent any further escalation.
A first information report has been lodged against members of both factions, and investigators have launched a detailed probe.
“We are examining all angles,” remarked the station house officer, “and further action will be taken in accordance with the law.”
