In a high-level diplomatic engagement, Pakistan's Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, met former US President Donald Trump at the White House to discuss a wide range of regional and bilateral issues, including trade, energy cooperation, and the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting took place over lunch in the Cabinet Room, followed by a visit to the Oval Office.
The session was also attended by US Secretary of State Senator Marco Rubio, Special Envoy for Middle East Affairs Steve Witkoff, and Pakistan’s National Security Advisor.
During the meeting, Field Marshal Munir expressed gratitude on behalf of the people of Pakistan and lauded Trump’s leadership and his ability to navigate global challenges.
Discussions spanned across various sectors such as trade, mineral resources, artificial intelligence, energy, and cryptocurrency.

Both sides acknowledged the potential for long-term strategic cooperation and a shared-interest based commercial partnership.
ISPR reported that the meeting included a detailed exchange on the Iran-Israel tensions, with both leaders stressing the importance of a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The originally scheduled one-hour meeting extended beyond two hours, reflecting the depth of the discussions.
Trump appreciated Field Marshal Munir’s leadership during turbulent regional developments and commended his decisive role, particularly in averting a potential war with India. He also acknowledged Pakistan’s unique understanding of Iran and said, “Pakistanis are not happy with the current situation.”
Field Marshal Munir, on behalf of the Government of Pakistan, extended an invitation to Trump for an official visit to Pakistan at an appropriate time.
Describing the meeting as a significant milestone, ISPR noted that it marked a new chapter in strengthening the longstanding Pakistan-US partnership.
Trump’s Statement Following the Meeting
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Donald Trump said, “It was an honor to meet Field Marshal Asim Munir today. I invited him to thank him for preventing a war with India. We also discussed the situation with Iran.”
He added, “Pakistan and India are both nuclear powers, and I appreciate Field Marshal Munir for not steering towards war. We are also in talks about a trade agreement with Pakistan.”
The former US President emphasized Pakistan’s familiarity with Iran, stating, “Pakistan understands Iran better than many others, and they are clearly not pleased with the current tensions.”
