KARAK: Five terrorists were killed in a joint operation conducted by the police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in Banda Daud Shah tehsil, officials confirmed.
According to sources, the intelligence-based operation took place in the mountainous region of Mir Kalam in Banda Daud Shah. During the operation, an exchange of fire erupted, resulting in the killing of five terrorists.

The bodies of the slain terrorists were shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital. Sources suggest that one of the deceased may be a key commander of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), though official confirmation is still awaited.
The operation comes amid a rising wave of terrorist attacks in the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Just two days ago, militants attacked the Fateh Khel checkpost in the Mandan police station limits of Bannu, using both light and heavy weaponry. The assault claimed the lives of two police constables, Rahimullah and Ziaullah.
Earlier, on February 6, unidentified assailants opened fire on a police checkpost in Bahadur Khel, Karak, resulting in the martyrdom of three police personnel.
The recent counter-terrorism operation underscores the ongoing security challenges in the region, as law enforcement agencies continue efforts to curb militant activities.
