MIRANSHAH / BARA, August 19: Security forces claim to have killed 47 militants as jet fighters and gunship helicopters targeted areas in North Waziristan and Khyber agencies.
Inter-Services Public Relations has notified that they took action at morning in Dattakhel and Madakhel areas of North Waziristan and Nala, Speen Qabar, Bargad and Dwathoy areas of Khyber Agency.
During the action, seven hideouts of militants were destroyed in North Waziristan, while five hideouts were razed to ground in Khyber Agency.
Meanwhile, unidentified armed men opened fired on a NATO-supply container, killing two people in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber Agency.
Administration officials say the incident took place at noon when a NATO container was travelling to Afghanistan. The armed men fired shots on the vehicle in Tedi bazaar, leaving driver Mr Saleem and the his helper Mr Israr dead on the spot.
