PESHAWAR, November 7: Four people died and about 20 others injured when a vehicle travelling from Peshawar to Lahore met an accident.

The coaster, carrying members of the Tablighi Jamaat (party of preachers) for participation in their annual congregation at Raiwind in Lahore, collided with another vehicle.

Those killed include Awami National Party leader of Yakkatut (Peshawar) Mr Jehanzeb Khan. The injured were taken to a hospital in Lahore, the capital city of Punjab province, where six of them were said to be in critical condition.

The first part of the Tablighi Jamaat’s congregation started at Raiwind on 6 November. Hundreds of thousands of people participate in the annual religious congregation.

Tablighi Jamaat, belonging to the Deoband school of thought in Islam, believes that Islam can be preached through peaceful means and dialogues.
